Get In The Ring

FIRST RECORD YOU CAN REMEMBER
Elvira - The Oak Ridge Boys.

A SONG THAT REMINDS YOU OF SCHOOL
"Laid" - James. Do you remember everyone walking around circa 1994 wearing James t-shirts? I do.

"My Name is Jonas" - Weezer. I remember thinking to myself, "This is what music should be." Promptly joined the Weezer fanclub (proud card-carrying member #0121) and probably listened to the blue album at least twice a day for two years straight.

"Do Whacka Do" - Roger Miller. Christian and I used to listen to a really odd variety of music, and old Roger was one of our favorites. I still remember distinctly the way Christian's voice cracked everytime he'd sing along with the "rip ip ip ip ip ip a doom doom wah" part.

"Takin' Retards to the Zoo" - The Dead Milkmen. Reminds me of my junior year, making bacon and drinking grape juice in the middle of the night when Aaron, Ili, and Katherine snuck out of their houses to hang out with me. We listened to the Dead Milkmen a lot, from what I remember.

RECORD YOU FELL IN LOVE TO
Ramones Mania

HEARTBREAK SONG
"Blue Jeans" - Blur. When dumped, put on repeat and cry your eyes out. And then turn the damned thing off before you kill yourself.

shimmy RECORD THAT EVOKES THE GREATEST SUMMER OF YOUR LIFE
Overall, my summers have generally sucked. But 1998 wasn't terrible, I guess.
Dandy Warhols Come Down - I saw the Dandys a lot that summer. That year, in fact.
Hometown Unicorn by Super Furry Animals - It was always played during those good "Cheers" sorts of moments.
Oh Lord! by Brian Jonestown Massacre - Another good show, another bad pool party.
Sha La La La Lee by Small Faces - I think TJ and I danced to this every Thursday for two months straight. Not bad for a chump.

ANTHEM FOR A NIGHT ON THE TILES
Small Faces "Whatcha Gonna Do (About It)"

RECORD THAT INSPIRED YOU TO WRITE
"Twice Removed" - Sloan

RECORD GUARANTEED TO CLEAR THE, ER, HOUSE
"Piece of Cake" - Mudhoney or anything by Neil Diamond

MIDNIGHT ON NEW YEAR'S EVE, 1999, WHAT'S ON THE HI-FI?
"JET" - Paul McCartney and Wings. Like I would so much as CONSIDER anything else.

WHAT SONG WOULD YOU LIKE PLAYED AT YOUR FUNERAL?
"The Good In Everyone" - Sloan
